Group Stays

Cheeky Fox Retreat is a beautiful place to gather with friends and family, to celebrate a special occasion or a girl’s weekend away.

Lounge by the pool, curl up with a book in the library, enjoy a movie night in the private cinema, cook up gourmet meals in the well-equipped kitchen, or have our private chef do the cooking for you, Cheeky Fox Retreat has everything you need for a stress-free getaway.

Stay in a spacious, light-filled country farmhouse

All on one level, Cheeky Fox Retreat features six large bedrooms and three bathrooms, providing comfortable accommodation for up to 12 guests. Five of the bedrooms offer luxurious twin share options, while the master bedroom features a king-size bed plus its own ensuite bathroom.

The spacious living and dining areas, fully equipped kitchen, a private cinema, library and solar-heated swimming pool, ensure that your stay is both comfortable and memorable.

Pull up a chair on the sun-drenched veranda which wraps around the entire house offering views of the ranges to the east and garden views to the west.

Located in the Kinglake Ranges, 60 km northeast of Melbourne, on Taungurung country

The Kinglake Ranges represents the boundary between the traditional lands of the Taungurung people to the north, and the Wurundjeri people to the south, and was an important meeting place for ceremonies and trading between the two tribes of the Kulin Nation.

Cheeky Fox Retreat honours that spirit of union. We acknowledge and respect First Nations people as the traditional custodians of this land and draw inspiration from their culture and connection to Country.

While only about an hour drive from Melbourne and the airport, Kinglake is a rural township that feels a world away from the city. Surrounded by the beautiful Kinglake National Park, the area offers a wide variety of nature-based attractions and activities including walking tracks, impressive waterfalls, tall forests, fern gullies and picnic areas and is also just a 25-minute drive to the Yarra Valley wine region.

At some 600 metres above sea level, Kinglake is about 5 degrees cooler than Melbourne and can have some alpine-like weather, sometimes even snowing in the winter months. The Retreat has a wood burner and ducted heating & cooling so is well prepared for all weather events!

The township of Kinglake features the historic Kinglake Pub, a well-stocked Foodworks supermarket, several great cafe/takeaway options and boutique retail stores.

Public transport in the area is limited, with the nearest train station about a 25-minute drive away, so we recommend guests have their own vehicles. However, the area is serviced by several private transport operators.

A peaceful farm setting on 50 acres with spectacular mountain views

Set amongst the beauty of the Kinglake Ranges, the property features 20 acres of native bushland with over 2 kilometres of private bush tracks to explore - home to a plethora of birdlife and wildlife such as wallabies, wombats, and kangaroos.

The house grounds feature a solar-heated swimming pool, a small olive grove and fruit orchard with open paddocks beyond, home to our friendly sheep.

Your group will always have exclusive access to the house and immediate grounds, including the swimming pool. Note that the property managers also reside in a separate dwelling on the property, and as it is a working hobby farm, may be seen in the paddocks tending to the sheep or walking the dog, but rest assured, your privacy is always respected.

In-house catering

Celebrate a special occasion in style with our private chef dining experience. Enjoy a 3-course meal served to you in the formal dining room with all cleaning up taken care of.

Activities

We have a network of local partners for activities that can be added onto your stay, including in-house wine tasting provided by a local winemaker, Yarra Valley winery tours, yoga, massage, workshops, art classes, team building activities and entertainment.

Picnics

We offer a picnic in the paddock experience with everything you'll need to enjoy a beautiful, rustic paddock picnic, including lawn games.

ACCESSIBILITY

Accessible parking is provided at either the double undercover carport or the double concrete slab in front of the garage (this is not undercover though). While the house is all on one level, there are two steps to get onto the veranda from the carport, or one step from the garage parking. The veranda wraps around the house and if required there are wider entrance doors at the rear of the house that can be accessed from the veranda. Inside, rooms are spacious, and the bedrooms have various bed heights to suit different needs. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, but it does not have a step-free shower or grab rails. Please contact us for a floor plan and to discuss options to support those with mobility limitations - we are happy to help.

It was the most well equipped house our group has stayed in, and the heating meant that at no stage did we feel the cold.
